Gettysburg remembered those lost to overdose at its annual Memorial Walk.
The Adams County Overdose Awareness Task Force held its fourth annual Memorial Walk on Wednesday, August 31, in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day to honor those who've lost their lives to drug overdose in Adams County.
The walk holds an important place in Gettysburg and Adams County's efforts to raise awareness about how the national opioid epidemic has affected the region.
"People need to become more aware of the fact that there are people who have died that deserve to be remembered and honored. There’s family members who are left that need that healing," said Samiah Slusser, project director for the Center for Youth and Community Development's Strategic Prevention Framework.
